The press-friendly version.

Jeffrey Haskey-Valerius (he/him) rarely knows what’s happening. He works in healthcare by day and writes weird fiction and poetry by night. His shorter work has been featured in numerous literary journals and has been nominated for prizes, including Best of the Net. He currently lives in the Midwest with his unbelievably handsome and perfect dog, and also a human whom he loves. The Cyclopes’ Eye is his debut novel.

The longer version.

In the seventh grade, Jeffrey (he/him) wrote a ridiculous short story for his English class, about three sisters — Crystal, Rose, and Pearl — who, after much deliberation on what to get their mother for Mother’s Day, bought three very original items: a crystal, a rose, and a pearl. Yes. Riveting. So fresh. The story was either so good or so bad that his teacher thought he’d plagiarized it, until he showed her his (many) rough drafts. So he’s got this whole writing thing in the bag, y’all.

Jeffrey eventually obtained a BA in Fiction Writing from Columbia College Chicago (and subsequently a bachelor’s in Nursing, but we don’t talk about that anymore), and now spends his life dreaming of ways he can write more. His poetry has been nominated for 2023 Best of the Net (Eastern Iowa Review) and has both fiction and poetry in numerous literary journals, including Belmont Story Review, Rust + Moth, Northern New England Review, Chiron Review, and elsewhere.

The Cyclopes’ Eye is his debut novel.

Jeffrey is represented by Stephanie Hansen at Metamorphosis Literary Agency.
